This could be Cheshire, or maybe the artist's home county of Lancashire. The cold leaden sky and what looks like a farmhouse could easily be in north west England. But this is Brittany, the artist's adopted home. The most striking element of the picture is the foreground with its shades of snowy greys and whites punctuated by blades grass. You can sense the cold and feel drawn to the farmhouse ahead. I have used a detail of the foreground area as background wallpaper for the Caroline Johnson images.

In the artist's own words: "Snow in Brittany. Across the field and beyond the big tree lies Janine’s brother’s house, built of earth and oak timbers, lying snug against the winter winds."
