Caroline Johnson has pictured one of the essential features of Manchester: The juxtaposition of old and new. On the left is the Great Northern Goods Warehouse and on the right, the futuristic Great Northern apartment tower. The two are linked by the covered footbridge. But the colours are muted, the shadows beneath the railway arches are dark, beneath the glitzy contemporary surface, the old Manchester is not far away. In the artist's own words: Watson Street. A modern bridge spans the road, a banner announces luxury flats for sale, whilst shadowy railway arches speak of Manchester’s darker past. Technical details
