This boundary stone stands on the boundary of Saddleworth (Yorkshire West Riding / Oldham MBC). The letters of the place names have been chiselled out.

It seems like vandalism to deface a boundary stone like this. I am not sure when or why the letters were chlselled out, and who was responsible.
