August 2000 view of the Manchester skyline from the top level of the main multi-storey car park. To the right is the roof of the railway station, to the left, the edge of the Radisson SAS hotel. The view ahead is now blocked by the new building above the recently-completed transport interchange. It's quite striking to be able to see right into the heart of Manchester from 12 miles to the south. All the main city centre landmarks can be seen, including Highland House (renamed North Tower) (left), GMEX (former Central Station, rebranded as Manchester Central), the Arndale Tower, the CIS Building, Sunley Tower (renamed City Tower) and Portland Tower.
