Manchester's Hilton Tower rises up above the roof of the former Central Station, later GMEX, rebranded Manchester Central. On the left is the geometric outline of the Bridgwater Hall. This part of Manchester city centre has seen many changes in recent years. The Bridgewater Hall appeared in the mid-90s on the site of Lower Mosley St bus station. GMEX was opened in the 1980s re-utilising the train shed of Central Station, closed in 1969. The Hilton or Beetham Hilton tower was constructed in the mid-2000s and dominates the city centre.
