Manchester Salford images from the aidan.co.uk photo portfolio

Picture: North West Film Archive building Chorlton St Manchester » Filename: ManNwFilmArchive7X17.jpg

This former industrial building on Chorlton Street Manchester houses the North West Film Archive. The North West Film Archive has preserved and documented a large collection of films and other types of moving image related to North West England. Many of the films are now available for viewing online. It is part of Manchester Metropolitan University (former Manchester Polytechnic).

Go to the North West Film Archive website www.nwfa.mmu.ac.uk.

I first went to the North West Film Archive in 1987, when I viewed some clips from the 1950s, including the opening of Blackpool Illuminations in the late 50s by Jayne Mansfield. In those days films were viewed on a projector.
