Gorton Baths was one of the few remaining Victorian buildings in the east Manchester district of Gorton. The baths originated in the late 19th century and played a significant role in the history of the city. They were a legacy of the measures taken by Manchester's 'City Fathers' to improve sanitary conditions in the city. This is what I wrote in Kyoto Japan on 13 August 2005:
"Another piece of the mosaic of Manchester is chipped away. Photo uploaded from Kyoto Japan, Thursday 1 September 2005. After I return on Tuesday I expect the building to be gone."
