Chris Blackwell was born in London in 1937, but grew up in Jamaica where he founded Island Records. His first hit in the UK was 'My Boy Lollipop' by Millie. Island went on to sign some of the biggest names in pop music, including Roxy Music, ELP, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Bob Marley, Robert Palmer, U2, Sugababes and more.See Wikipedia. His career stretches back to the earliest roots of the British pop music industry and continues today. He told In The City delegates that nowadays he is promoting the offspring of his original artists, including Damian Marley.
