French oil company Total have many petrol stations in the Philippines, including this one on the superhighway south of Manila. The price of a litre of premier unleaded is 23.70 pesos, around 24 pence per litre, 36 euro cents per litre or 1.66 US dollars per US gallon. In the UK in June 2004, the price of petrol rose to over 80p per litre, 1.20 euro per litre or nearly 5.56 US dollars per US gallon.

The price of fuel is a controversial issue all over the world. One half of the world probably can't believe what the other half is paying for its fuel. And by the way a hamburger at the popular Filipino fast food chain Jollibee cost about 55 pesos or pence, one US dollar or 83 euro cents.
