The upper section of the south facade of the MIdland Hotel Manchester. The Midland Hotel was built 1898 to 1903 for the MIdland Railway, and overlooks the former Central Station (GMEX, Manchester Central). The exterior is magnificent, with its intricately ornate and shiny exterior. The MIdland Hotel has been home to Manchester's In The City music convention and fesival. Today it is regarded as one of Manchester's most magnificent buildings, though in the 1960s attitudes were different. I considered it to be an ugly monstrosity, but later changed my views.
