The paintings of artist Liam Spencer reflect the changing effects of light on the Manchester cityscape. The colours have a translucent quality as if the paint is still wet. His red and pink Manchester sunsets are remarkably true to life. Working mostly from reference photos, his pictures look like photographs from a distance, but reveal themselves as paintings from close up. I love the paintings of Liam Spencer, I could look at them all day. They are technically sophisticated, but also accessible to a wide audience, and provide a valuable record of Manchester.
