Looking through the gap in the concrete wall onto the main part of Piccadilly Gardens, redeveloped around 2001 by Manchester City Council. The new Piccadilly Gardens are a very poor replacement for the original gardens for many reasons: the ugly and outsized block built on a former green space, the concrete walls, the badly designed and poor quality stonework, problems with the lawns, the lack of flowers and shrubbery, the now very dated 'millenniumised' design.
