On the afternoon of 17 November 1997 there were unusual and spectacular skies over Cheshire. There had been heavy rain, then the sun appeared low in the sky, casting a golden light on the clouds. The sky above was quite dark - the lamp had already come on - yet the sun in the west was bright. It was a remarkable experience. which I was thankfully able to capture on film.
