Actress Sue Nicholls has played Audrey Hall on Coronation Street since 1979 and is one the most famous British TV actresses. Previously she worked on the comedy drama The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, and the soap opera Crossroads. She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and was born on 23 November 1943. Her full name is The Honourable Susan Frances Harmer Nicholls.

On 6 January 2006 I photographed Sue Nicholls together with representatives of local charities. This was part of my work for St Ann's Hospice. I was surprised that Sue remembered me taking her photograph at the Manchester International Film Festival in 2000. She made us feel very welcome, and gave us a VIP round the Coronation Street set. It was fascinating.
