Number One Deansgate, the upmarket apartment building in the centre of Manchester, is captured here at various stages of its construction. From top left: Shambles West development under demolition c1998, installation of support trusses c2000, eight storeys completed 2001, nearing completion on 1st of December 2001 (centre) and on 1 March 2004 (right) now a familiar landmark in Manchester.

1000th image on the site.

I decided to choose this composite image for the 1000th image in my Portfolio Site as it's a prime example of the work I've done since 1996 in documenting the changing face of Manchester. This previously unpublished image appears in my April 2004 Eyewitness in Manchester picture quiz. No 1 Deansgate was designed by the inspirational Manchester- based architects Ian Simpson Associates.
