Dusk view of central Manchester as seen from Marple Ridge around 15 miles to the south east. On the left is the Hilton or Beetham Hilton Tower, the dusk sky reflected the glass exterior. Its bright red warning lights can be seen
The roof of Manchester Central (former GMEX & railway station) is clearly visible and just to its right, the sloping roof of the Great Northern tower. In the lower right is the symmetrical outline and chimney of Houldsworth Mill in Reddish, north Stockport. Rising up around 25 miles (40 km) north west of the viewpoint are the West Pennine hills above Bolton.
