Aytoun Street leads south from Piccadilly Gardens and is used by Metrolink trams on their way to and from Piccadilly Station. Aytoun Street has a variety of architectural styles from the restored Grand Hotel, now apartments (left), the futuristic metal-clad corner section of a red-brick apartment building in the middle, and the disused former government building from the 1950's further down to the right. Here is a good illustration of 'conservation with innovation' - something I strongly advocate. But what is going to happen to the 1950's building?
