Slow moving traffic on the M6, seen from Sandback services. On Sunday 6 August 2006, a serious accident near Stoke caused the closure of the motorway for several hours.

Accidents are a regular occurence on this stretch of the M6 motorway, which is used by more traffic than it was originally designed for. An extra lane is to be added in both directions, but what is really needed is either: a new motorway along a different route, or a reduction in traffic levels.
