This distinctive artwork features a large fan, possibly from an aircraft or indusrial machine. It is contained in a steel housing with a window at the top. It is illuminated from inside by concealed green and blue lighting. Behind is the railway viaduct that takes trains from Victoria Station to Salford Crescent. The artwork has stood on this spot since the widening of this road, part of the Manchester and Salford Inner Relief Road which was completed in 2004. On closer inspection, the artwork has suffered some wear and tear - the glass is cracked and the metal is marked and scratched. Nevertheless this is an impressive work that celebrates local industrial heritage and is seen by thousands of motorists and pedestrians every day.
