Misty view from Vernon Park towards Pear Mill, on the eastern side of Stockport town centre. On the left the now disused chimney rises high above the horizon line. On the right is the distinctive pear-shaped top of the tower. Most mills - the name given to industrial buildings in northern England from the time of the Industrial Revolution - have the name of the mill on the tower in white lettering. Pear Mill uses an object instead, giving it a distinctive and unique look. About the photos This image is from the portfolio of Aidan O'Rourke photographer writer website publisher.
