Spire of St Matthews church Edgeley Stockport with rooftops and snow covered hills

The view from Didsbury Road Heaton Mersey looking south east across Edgeley, with the spire of St Matthew's church (Church of England) rising above snow covered hills. Just visible on the right is one of the light fixtures at Stockport County's football ground. The chimney belongs to Stepping Hill Hospital and on the hilltop on the left is the Cage, Lyme Park.

The hills are white from the snowfall of early February 2009. The sloping terrain creates and interesting effect with the rooftops and chimney stacks in Edgeley. We are looking across the valley of the river Mersey taking in three counties: the viewpoint is in Lancashire, Edgeley is on the Cheshire side of the Mersey and the hills are in Derbyshire.
