Stockport railway viaduct seen from the railings next to the bus station. Along the river Mersey are factories and one or two chimneys. The scene looks largely unchanged from past decades. Power cables were added to the railway viaduct when the line was electrified around 1960.
This image is part of an early photographic project I entitled 'Darkside of the North' in which I tried to capture the gloomy atmosphere of northern England in the past, using elements of the contemporary environment.
