The Victorian Eastgate clock is one of the most famous symbols of Chester. It was built to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. It stands above the arch on Eastgate Street in the centre of Chester. The arch is part of Chester city walls.
It could also be said to be one of the most cliched images of Chester as it has been photographed and used so many times. It is said to be the second most photographed clock in the United Kingdom after Big Ben.
