Cityscape from a DART train moving south along the embankment between Fairview and Connolly (Amiens St) station. We are looking south across the port area with the striking form of the Samuel Beckett Bridge rising up. In the distance are the Dublin Mountains. The Samuel Beckett Bridge looks to be perhaps the most spectacular bridge to have been appeared on the River Liffey to date. At the time this photo was taken, the bridge was being installed and was in its 'open' position. I love the choice of name, echoing the Sean O'Casey and James Joyce bridges further upstream. Samuel Beckett went to my university Trinity College Dublin. About the photos This image is from the portfolio of Aidan O'Rourke photographer writer website publisher.
