Picture: Statue of Sir Matt Busby Manchester United Old Trafford Ground » Filename: TraManUtdSirMattV9Y26.jpg

The statue of Matt Busby, legendary manager of Manchester United football club, He stands in a statuesque pose, hand on hip looking over to the right. In his left arm he (out of shot) he is holding a football. The sculpture of Sir Matt Busby at Old Trafford is by Scottish sculptor Philip Jackson.

The statue seems to capture the character of Matt Busby, full name: Sir Alexander Matthew Busby, CBE, KCSG (born 26 May 1909 died 20 January 1994). The sculptor has skilfully caught the texture and feel of the clothes, with the jacket flipped back under his arm.

Technical details: Sony Alpha A350 digital SLR camera - Photographing statues can be tricky and often, results can be mediocre. Here I was lucky with the morning light coming from the east, lighting up the statue and giving the subject a heroic look. Strong light on a statue can give a dramatic effect. Compare with the flat lighting in the Wikipedia photo. I decided to zoom in capture more of the face and upper body, rather than the full length view.
