Ordsall Hall is a house with medieval origins and Victorian additions. It once stood in open countryside overlooking the River Irwell. By the late 19th century it was in the midst of a big city. Today it belongs to the City of Salford and is a visitor attraction and educational facility.

A black and white version of this image will appears in the Eyewitness in Manchester Review of 1953 feature, online January 2004.
