Misty sunset over Stockport seen from Marple Ridge

The setting sun seen over Stockport and south Manchester from Marple Ridge. On the left is the steeple of St George's Church Buxton Road Stockport and on the right, St Matthews Church Edgeley. A larger size version of the image is here

The sun disappeared into the mist shortly after I took this photo. The 'veiled' effect of the clouds in front of the pink sun is remarkable. The town below looks timeless as there is no evidence of contemporary times. The effect is painterly. I am a painter manqué. I use photography because I'm impatient, and don't have enough time to paint! One day.
