Saddleworth is a unique place, a district with a Yorkshire heritage located on the Lancashire side of the Pennines. It’s famed for its picturesque stone houses, hillside views and strong traditions.
Part of Oldham Metropoolitan Borough since 1974, it has retained its strong and distinctive identity. The symbol for Saddleworth is the white rose of Yorkshire. It’s only around eight miles from Manchester city centre
Here are some images taken around 2003 with the Nikon Coolpix 990 compact digital camera. They are mostly unpublished and appear here for the first time. Click on each image to view a larger version. One of them is extra large. I don’t think much has changed in the intervening years!
