Archive Image: Wallasey Town Hall seen along Wright Street

The distinctive tower of Wallasey Town Hall can be seen along Wright Street with its red brick terraced houses, bay windows and chimney pots. Though cities have changed out of all recognition in some respects, in others they are still redolent of the past. In Britain most people live in an environment that was created in the late 19th century or early 20th century. For me this view captures my earliest memories and impressions of Liverpool and the Wirral, and though I didn’t grow up there I still feel homesick and nostalgic for an imaginary childhood I never spent there! Interestingly, a good friend of mine grew up very close to here.

Nostalgia and childhood memories are a big driving force in my creative imagination and are a big source of inspiration to me.
