Gigantic new towers are going up around the
city centre, but one prominent landmark on Oxford Road is about to come
down. The Manchester University Maths Building - like the slide
rule that's said to have inspired it - is no longer suited to a modern
university. The main problem was the difficulty in moving large numbers
of students around the building. By mid-2005 it will have gone. Check
EWM to see how this view will look. I predict we will be able to see
the tower of the Holy Name church.
