It's dusk and we are standing on
Pollard Street Ancoats with bus and billboard advert. The left hand
scene is from 20 Nov 1998, the right hand one, from a slightly narrower
angle of view was taken 31 May 2005. Outwardly little has changed,
apart from a new street light and a newer bus, but all around massive
redevelopment is in progress. The green light on the upper facade of the
old mill is part of the conversion of the building into apartments. Off
to the right is the New Islington development. One small change - the
billboard, now taken over by a different company, is slightly smaller
and has three lights instead of four. Whether the reduction in ad size
has any bearing on the value of this location, only a marketeer can
answer.
