ROBERT MAXFIELD is an actor who has featured on many TV and film dramas, including 'Heartbeat' and 'Cold Feet'. Robert still lives in his home district of Wythenshawe.
EWM says: I've worked with Robert on two feature films. He is one of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met, with a wicked sense of humour.
COLIN MEREDITH is a highly experienced actor, who has appeared in many TV dramas and on stage. Every year his company stages the Rochdale panto. In the production he is both actor and director
EWM says: The Rochdale Panto is a marvellous show which will appeal to all ages. I can't recommend it too highly!
JOHN McCORMACK is a film producer and director. His first feature 'The Van Boys' is set in Manchester and features familiar locations and famous actors. He has also made feature films 'Daddyfox' and 'Derek', both of which are awaiting distribution deals.
EWM says: John McCormack has the ability to pull together a large number of people and motivate them to give their best. We hope to see the films in the cinemas some time soon.
JAI MOODIE is a local artist who specialises in producing murals and large size art works in bright colours. He painted the mural on Oldham Road depicting the east Manchester skyline.
EWM says: Jai's work mixes modern and traditional, White British and Afro-Caribbean, sophisticated and naive in a fresh, dazzling and accessible way.

MARTIN MURREY is pictured here next to one of his paintings. He takes as his subject matter familiar buildings and streets of Manchester. His work has appeared in several exhibitions and received much critical acclaim.

EWM says: Martin's paintings have a magical glowing quality about them. A good example is this painting of Canal Street.

ALAN OWEN has been closely involved in Manchester's Gay Village for over ten years, serving on committees and helping to run the hugely popular and highly controversial Mardi Gras festival.
EWM says: Alan is one of the makers of Manchester's world-famous Gay Village.
MALCOLM PITT is an actor, singer and producer based in Wythenshawe. He has acted in three feature films which he has also helped to produce. He performs his Lionel Ritchie tribute act all over the UK and abroad.
EWM says: Malcolm's Lionel Ritchie tribute act extremely professional and provides a whole evening's entertainment.
PETER PORTLAND is pictured here at Books Etc in the Printworks on the occasion of a launch event for his recently-published book on ghost stories 'Around Haunted Manchester.
EWM says: Peter is a natural storyteller and captivated the audience with his descriptions of some of Manchester's ghosts.
JIM RAMSBOTTOM is a property developer who was instrumental in bringing about the regeneration of the formerly run-down canalside district of Castlefield.
EWM says: I photographed Jim Ramsbottom at the 1999 Civic Society awards where he won the 'Spirit of Manchester' award.

CLLR KATH ROBINSON is one of the deputy leaders of Manchester City Council. A Labour councillor for Burnage, she has She has worked hard to develop Manchester's twinning arrangement with Wuhan in China.

MARY ROBINSON has no special connection with Manchester, but she was the first person I featured in EWM when I photographed her on an official visit to the Borough of Tameside. At that time she was President of Ireland. Subsequently she served as United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights.
EWM says: By co-incidence, Mary Robinson presented me with my MA degree, conferred 12 July 02 at Trinity College Dublin 21 years after I graduated.
