The Hacienda is one of the best known and most controversial examples of the demolition of a landmark building in Manchester. On the left is the Roundhouse as it looked on 15 January 1999, and on the right, the Hacienda apartment building as seen on 16 October 2003. Many would like the building to have been saved and perhaps turned into a museum of Manchester music, but Hacienda co-founder Tony Wilson was happy for it to be torn down.
